In this spring-themed workshop, students will work from direct observation of bird nests. They will learn about basic shapes, positive and negative space, and composition design. Utilizing a variety of different charcoals, including vine and compressed, students will learn how to layer them to create a drawing with depth and value.  

Bird Nests in Charcoal will be held at the Gallery at WREN on Tuesday, May 6th from 10:00 to noon. Suitable for ages teen and up.

About the instructor: Jessica Fligg is an artist working in her studio and extensively en plein air. She paints throughout the year with winter being her favorite time to paint outdoors. Jessica believes that working from direct observation is key to building a strong foundation in drawing and painting.
