In this workshop students will work from reference photos to sketch birds in charcoal. They will learn about value, use of basic shapes, and perspective. While using different kinds of charcoal students will build up layers of value to develop the image of the bird. Reference photos will be provided but students are encouraged to bring their own if they would like!

$30 non-members, $25 members · $10 materials fee

Sketching Birds with Charcoal will be held at the Gallery at WREN on Tuesday, July 22nd from 10:00 to noon. Suitable for ages teen and up.

About the instructor: Jessica Fligg is an artist working in her studio and extensively en plein air. She paints throughout the year with winter being her favorite time to paint outdoors. Jessica believes that working from direct observation is key to building a strong foundation in drawing and painting.
